The ElectroCapture Instrument™ utilizes an electric field to trap or immobilize charged molecules traveling in a flow stream. As the sample flows into the ElectroCapture Cell ™, charged molecules are attracted towards the upstream junction and captured by the counteracting effects of hydrodynamic and electrical forces. Using this simple principle a multifunctional analytical tool has been developed for the analysis of a wide range of biomolecules and pharmaceuticals.Together with mass spectrometry, this technology will initially be used in the following areas:

  • Separations
  • Multistep microreactions
  • Desalting
  • Detergent removal
  • Concentration
  • Solvent exchange

The ElectroCapture technology was developed searching for more versatile and simpler strategies to perform sample preparation for the analysis of biomolecules by mass spectrometry.
